Germantown, Tennessee--October 6, 2021--In a special lesson that connects the classroom to the real world, Coach Michelle Johnson of Houston Middle School arranged for officers from the United States Navy to make a guest appearance in her classroom this week.
The guest speakers detailed what each of the 13 folds represents during the folding process and explained the proper way to hang a flag at half-mast. "These students will now assist the middle school in its daily responsibilities raising and folding the flag, but with more meaning behind it," said Principal Shamira Davis.
