Germantown, Tennessee–March 9,2022– Houston High’s Carter Yeargen recently was a runner-up in PlaySlam!, a 10-Minute Play competition for local middle and high school playwrights. Playhouse on the Square received 51 scripts from all over the Mid-South area. As a finalist, Carter will be attending a Writer’s Workshop in April where he will get to work behind the scenes and learn more about playwriting. He is a freshman this year and has been exploring playwriting for a while now. However, this was his first complete play. The theme of the competition this year was “What Hope Looks Like.” Carter’s play, “Desiderium” focuses on a teenager working through a panic attack. Carter said, “The play has definitely meant a lot to me. I hope that if anyone sees the play and is struggling, they know that they will get through it.”
