Four new tower gardens were recently purchased by FHES for indoor gardening. These are hydroponic systems which will allow FHES to grow produce all year long. Hydroponics is the cultivation of plants without using soil. Nutrients are provided to the plant through water which is pumped to a nozzle that atomizes the solution and distributes it as a fine mist.
Currently operating is one tower garden of leaf vegetables, and flower seeds are being germinated for tower number two. Eventually, the towers will be used to start plants indoors which will then be transplanted to the outdoor learning garden.
These tower gardens are 6 feet high and were purchased with Title 1 funds.
