Student Spotlight: Logan Wu Chess Champion Student Spotlight: Logan Wu Chess Champion Student Spotlight: Logan Wu Chess Champion Show Transcript hi my name is Logan will I'm a senior at Houston High School well it all started when I was about five years old there is a group test less than that the library and they wanted one more person to attend the lecture so that they can get started and I was that student ever since out lecture I've been in love with the game and I remember it when I got home I begged my dad to play again not too long after about a year after I started playing in the official tournament I attended the national championship for my grade level that was first grade you can see a miracle happened when I won the championship with the Perfect Score everyone was shocked like I remember my parents were shocked I coach and made myself ever since then I've been competing in competitions across the country across the world pretty much throughout my grade levels I've competed in every. what temperature for that year and I've won I think for my family and I have started doing group lessons and organizing events in a local area just to get more local kids involved in the game and just so that we can provide resources because Memphis is not a chess hotspot by any means what we do is we teach three different levels of students there's the beginners would never played chess before I'm introducing the game to them so that way I'm bringing more people into the game and there's the intermediate and advanced who have some experience but basically what I do is use my personal experience to teach these kids so that they get to learn play decades worth of experience as cliche as it sounds I think chess has become a part of me I feel like a logical and strategic person cast is also allowed me to travel the world and visit so many different places and need thousands of people who share my passion for the game and I think most importantly it's just taught me so many life lessons in Sky will stay with me forever. ball pit stop me to persevere and to learn from your mistakes and obviously you don't win every test kit and it's telling me that as long as you put in the work like we're going to see results Published May 31, 2023 Print
