Avatar Floriography: Vices and Virtues, featured in Houston High School’s Literary Magazine, received recognition as a Superior magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). This marks a two-decade tradition of accolades for the Houston High School’s Literary Avatar Magazines, consistently earning distinctions such as Superior, Excellent, and Distinguished.
In the 2023 contest, 375 student magazines from schools in 46 states and five countries were nominated, spanning middle school, high school, and higher education levels. The REALM program, dedicated to acknowledging outstanding literary magazines produced by students and their supportive teachers, aims to inspire schools across the United States, the District of Columbia, US territories, Canada, and American schools abroad to cultivate literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing.
