Are you ready to let your words wander and weave through the streets of Germantown? The 2024 Word Travels Sidewalk Poetry Contest is back, inviting poets of all ages and backgrounds to showcase their creativity and talent. Organized by the city of Germantown, this contest promises not only the chance to have your poetry immortalized on the city's sidewalks but also the opportunity to win a cash prize of $100!
If you live, work, or go to school in Germantown, you're eligible to participate. Whether you're a seasoned wordsmith or a budding poet, we welcome you to share your poetic vision with the community. This year, we're excited to announce that we'll be selecting four winners: two adults and two youths.
As an exciting addition to this year's contest, we're thrilled to offer two Creative Writing Poetry Workshops led by creative writing teacher Anna Terry. These workshops are designed to inspire poets of all levels, from novices to seasoned writers. Dive into the world of contemporary, free verse poetry, explore the elegance of Japanese haiku, and discover new ways to connect with the world through poetic expression. To reserve your spot, call (901) 757-7323 or visit the library’s Information desk. Hurry, as seating is limited to 20 people per workshop!
