GMSD’s New Student Board Representative: HHS Senior Jack Boccher

August 2024 - Houston High School senior Jack Boccher is this year’s Student Board Representative for GMSD. Jack’s dedication to his school and community is clear through his involvement in various clubs and organizations where he has made a significant impact.

As the President and Co-founder of Houston High’s community service club, Jack has led initiatives to support the Germantown community. He also serves as the President of the Beta Club, Vice President of the Chemistry Club, an officer in the German Club, a council member for the Houston Honors Academy, and an active National Honors Society member. For the Houston Mustangs, Jack is the Captain for the HHS Varsity Boys Soccer team, and his community leadership continues into his role Caption of his competitive soccer league team, the Lobos Rush Club (06-07 ECNL), where he also coaches as a goalkeeper for younger players.

This dedication to service doesn’t end with extracurricular activities. Since the 5th grade at Dogwood Elementary, Jack has aimed to attend a service academy, specifically being passionate about the Navy. His goal is to pursue a military career as a fighter jet pilot. As he begins his senior year at Houston, Jack says, “My goal is to serve, and above all else, that’s the number one thing that I want to achieve, both in my last year at Houston and in my career.” With his applications to service academies already submitted, he is focusing his last year as a Mustang on continuing to give back to his school and community.

As the new Student Board Representative, Jack is determined to represent his peers and be a true voice for the student body. He is committed to listening to his classmates and addressing their concerns to improve student life at Houston High, saying, “I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to be in a position where I can help others and be a part of something that is bigger than myself.” He looks forward to learning from the Superintendent and Board Members, gaining insights that will help him in his future community service and career path.

Despite his many community service responsibilities, Jack is still only a high school senior and has many other goals as well. Among them: winning a state championship with the HHS soccer team and mastering a backflip, saying, “The ideal scenario would be to win state and celebrate by doing a backflip on the field.”

Jack Boccher’s commitment to his fellow students and the Germantown community have set him apart, and we are excited to welcome him as the new Student Board Representative. Congratulations Jack!
