Houston High School teacher Craig Juneau saves student with quick action

GMSD is celebrating the swift and life-saving actions of Houston High School's Digital Arts teacher, Craig Juneau, who became a true hero last week. While on cafeteria duty, Mr. Juneau observed a student in distress, choking on food, and immediately stepped into action. Using his knowledge of first aid, he performed the Heimlich maneuver, successfully dislodging the food and saving the student's life.

The student’s family has expressed immense gratitude for Mr. Juneau’s quick response, and the entire GMSD community stands proud of his vigilance and care. This remarkable incident underscores the dedication of our teachers, not just in the classroom but in safeguarding the wellbeing of every student. Superintendent Jason Manuel commended Mr. Juneau’s bravery, saying, “We are fortunate to have educators like Craig Juneau, who not only inspire students in their academic and artistic pursuits but also take decisive action in critical moments.”

GMSD is proud to have such committed and courageous staff, whose actions reflect the district’s mission to create a safe and supportive environment for all students. Thank you, Mr. Juneau, for being a true hero in our GMSD community!
