Houston High School students host a "Cop Stop" event to pay tribute to local first responders on the anniversary of September 11th

Students involved with Houston’s Student Government Association hosted a “Cop Stop” lunch as a thank you for first responders in the Germantown community. The lunch included food donated from various local businesses including Biggby Coffee, Firehouse Subs, Lenny's Grill & Subs, Mojo Nutrition, Duck Donuts, and Levee Creamery. As we reflect on the events of 9/11, this event served as a gesture of gratitude and remembrance for the bravery and sacrifice exhibited by first responders not only on 9/11, but each and every day.

The initiative was part of the GMSD’s broader effort to honor the memory of those who responded to the 2001 attacks. By inviting first responders to the campus, Houston High School aimed to connect students and staff with the community members who serve and protect them daily.

The event was organized with the leadership of SGA President Colby Shelton and SGA Sponsor Traci Spain, with significant contributions from other students who helped coordinate the event. Members of Houston’s SGA are always working to ensure that students have a deep connection to Germantown and surrounding communities. Principal Hallie Ross expressed her gratitude to all involved, emphasizing the importance of taking a moment to honor and remember the sacrifices made on September 11th.

The "Cop Stop" event was a meaningful way for the Houston High School community to come together in solemn remembrance of 9/11, reinforcing the importance of never forgetting the courage and selflessness displayed by so many on that day. HHS and GMSD are so grateful for all of our SROs, local law enforcement, and each first responder who ensures the health and safety of all our GMSD. Thank you!
