Racing to Success: A Weekend of Support and Celebration

The Germantown Education Foundation’s annual 5K Race and Color Run this past weekend was a roaring success, thanks to the efforts of countless community volunteers, students, and staff. With an incredible turnout of 1,219 runners, the event showcased the amazing support of the GMSD community.

The proceeds from the event will fund teacher grants, furthering educational innovation across GMSD. Participants, both young and old, dashed through the colorful course with enthusiasm, leaving a trail of bright hues and smiles in their wake.

“Events like this exemplify the unity and energy that make GMSD a leader in education,” said Superintendent Jason Manuel. “We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support the cause and helped make this day so special.”

For those unable to attend or looking to relive the fun, student communication interns have captured the best moments of the race on the GMSD Instagram Page  ,offering a glimpse into the event's highlights.

The success of this year’s race would not have been possible without the contributions of the district’s generous sponsors. A special thank you goes out to Big League Movers, Fleet Feet Memphis, and SFE, whose support played a critical role in bringing the event to life. Biggby Coffee also delighted teachers and staff with complimentary coffee and donuts, making the morning even sweeter.

Additionally, a remarkable achievement took place when Jim Jacobs, a 90-year-old local runner, crossed the finish line. Jacobs, who has completed over 500 races, claimed first place in his age group, demonstrating that perseverance knows no age limits.

Staff members who attended the event are encouraged to visit the School Coordinated Health Facebook page and register for a chance to win a mystery prize. Your dedication to GMSD is invaluable, and we thank you for your continued support in making GMSD "A World of Our Own."
