Germantown Municipal School District wishes to thank Dr. Chatham for his service on the school board. During his time on the board, he has been a steady and thoughtful presence. Dr. Chatham’s even-tempered nature and ability to advocate with passion and tact have made a meaningful impact on our schools and community. While we will miss his contributions to the board, we respect and understand his decision to focus on his family.
“Dr. Chatham has been a valuable member of our board, and his decision to step down comes from a place of care and thoughtfulness—not only for his family but for our district as well,” said Superintendent Jason Manuel. “He was always an advocate for what’s best for students and families, and we are thankful for his service.”
In his announcement, Dr. Chatham expressed his confidence in GMSD, highlighting the district’s exceptional schools, talented teachers, dedicated principals and skilled administrators. “GMSD is full of wonderful schools staffed by incredible teachers, principals and administrators,” he wrote.
“I am thankful for Dr. Chatham’s service to the board and GMSD over the past two years. I will miss his thoughtful comments and wit. I wish him and his family the best and know he will continue to be a strong supporter of GMSD in the community,” said Ryan Strain, Chairman of the Board.
By policy, the Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) will oversee the process to fill Chatham’s seat. An application process will open soon, and qualified candidates will be interviewed before an appointment is made to complete his term. Further details will be shared in the coming weeks.
We thank Dr. Chatham for his time and efforts on behalf of GMSD and wish him and his family the best in their journey ahead.
